The Women’s Refuge started a daughter ministry in Colombia, South America in May, 2003. Two of our staff established this home by overseeing a program and training the leaders. The Director and her husband are actively seeking prayer and financial support as they face almost insurmountable obstacles. Members of our Vero Beach staff will be in constant communication with them and will visit them at least every six months to keep them encouraged and focused on God -- their real Refuge.

In February 2005 The Women's Refuge of St. Johns County opened their doors in St. Augustine, Florida to women who have been incarcerated in prison or jail. Most of these women have had problems with addictions, therefore, the Refuge commitment is for one year. Ed and Joan Clements are dedicated servants of the Lord and have been trained in biblical counseling.

Susannah and Gail are the ladies whom God has raised up in South Africa to open up a Refuge there. They have been teaching and counseling women in the truth of the Gospel in the non-residential program since they returned to South Africa 2 years ago. Susannah has donated the land and the house that will be used for the residential program. Roy and Barbara Gardner, part of the Refuge staff here in Florida, spent one month visiting the Refuge in South Africa in July, 2006.

We have also had women from Miami, South Africa, Hong Kong, and Australia come for training here in Vero Beach. Please join us as we pray for the future Refuges that God is building around the world. The Lord is definitely doing a great work through the women that come for training here.

Resale Shop

In March 2005 The Women's Refuge Resale Shop opened for business. Everything from furniture, gifts, households, toys, clothes, and miscellaneous items are for sale at very reasonable prices. Donations are always welcome. Please call or come by if you would like to be a part of our ministry by making a donation. The Shop is located at 1625 10th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The phone number is (772)567-3598. Our shop is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 3pm. We are also in need of volunteers to work in the shop.
