The Women’s Refuge began in 1997 under the vision of the founders, Ted and Donna Lee Robart, who believed that a home needed to be established for women who wanted a chance to start over with their lives. Since this time, many hundreds of men, women, and teens have come through the residential and non-residential programs.

The residential program is offered to women 18 and older that desire to live and walk in the freedom and victory that is only available through a life surrendered to God through Jesus Christ. Each women is encouraged and discipled in her personal relationship and walk with Jesus. A balance between work, study, and counseling is daily part of life at the Refuge. One on one biblical counseling, housing, study materials, and meals are provided and included in the cost of the program.

The non-residential program is offered to men, women, teens, couples, and families. Biblical couseling and a variety of groups are offered, according to the need of the individual.

In March The Women's Refuge Resale Shop opened for business. Everything from furniture, gifts, households, toys, clothes, and miscellaneous items are for sale at very reasonable prices. Donations are always welcome. Please call or come by if you would like to be a part of our ministry by making a donation. The Shop is located at 1625 10th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960. The phone number is (772)567-3598. Our shop is open Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 3pm. We are also in need of volunteers to work in the shop. If you have some free time that you would like to donate, please contact Karen Schaefer at the Women's Refuge office (772)770-4424 for information.

One of the requirements for the women in the residential program is either work, volunteer, or go to school for at least four hours a day. The Resale shop helps to provide work for the women who volunteer.
