Review of Groups and Classes
Overcomers Overcomers is for those who are looking for healing from the brokenness of damaged emotions and who want to embark on a spiritual journey toward the healing and wholeness found in Christ. For those who are seeking to develop dependence on God, rather than a false trust in self, by yielding their lives to Christ. Facilitated by Amy Wolf, leader of Overcomers for 9 years. Ongoing Class 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Class Cost including Book is $25.
Conquering Codependency For women who are tired of changing their behavior to meet the needs and expectations of others. For women who are tired of sacrificing their own needs while focusing on meeting the needs of others. Who are tired of trying to manage everyone else's life and are feeling overwhelmed. The Conquering Codependency Christ-centered group will help you begin the process toward recovering from codependency, acknowledge and define compulsions, deal with painful guilt and to depend on God through Christ to restore you to spiritual and emotional health. 12wk Class, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Class cost including Book is $39.
Mind Matter Mind Matters is a group for those interested in learning more about a variety of psychological topics including bipolar, anxiety, depression, the effects of diet on mood and more. It is an educational group focusing on matters relating to the mind. Facilitated by Donna Robart, Director of Women's Refuge and former psychiatric nurse. Ongoing Class: 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Donations accepted.
Shelter From The Storm (Dealing with Sexual Abuse) This group deals with the feelings that stem from the storms of sexual abuse that can be devastating, such as, betrayal, shame, fear, guilt and loneliness. Shelter From the Storm offers hope and healing as it examines the false beliefs about abuse; the overwhelming effects of abuse on the life of it's survivors, the process of grieving the pain of sexual abuse, learning to let go of the past, the process of reclaiming trust, control and intimacy, the road to recovery through the Word of God and the path with God's help, from victim to survivor to thriver. Facilitated by Karen Schaefer B.S., Biblical Lay-Counselor & Public Relations Director at The Women's Refuge. 14 Wk Class, 3 p.m. -5 p.m . Class Cost including Book is $39.
Anger Management Anger Management helps to identify what anger means to you, what it’s purpose may be, where it comes from and gaining control over your anger. In this six week study you will learn how to deal with anger wisely when you enter its "world" in your heart and mind. The study begins by explaining how to understand your anger, and it concludes by giving insight into dealing with anger that is directed towards you. Anger management is a Bible based study group for women. Facilitated by Cheryl Wood, B.S., MFT graduate student, Biblical Lay-Counselor at The Women's Refuge. "Keys to Breaking the Cycle of Anger, Finding Peace in the Middle of Life's Storms" by Barbara Gardner, board member & Biblical Lay Counselor at the Women's Refuge. 6 Wk Class, Class Cost including Book is $25.
Bible Study Open the to the public is a Friday morning Bible study from 8:30-10am. We study the life of Christ, Christian books and the books of the Bible. Facilitated by Rev. Mike Malone of Christ the King Presbyterian Church. Ongoing ~ 8:30 a.m. –10 a.m. Next book: "The Counterfiet God"
Worship Night We welcome all women to join us Friday nights from 7-9pm in the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ through music, prayer and the celebration of what God has done in our lives. Worship Night is lead by various staff members. Ongoing 7 p.m. -9 p.m.
Counseling Class (not available in 2010) The Counseling Class is for those who desire to become a biblical lay counselor or who would like more training in helping others find healing and wholeness. The class integrates counseling theory with biblical truth and teaches counseling techniques. Facilitated by Donna Robart, Director of the Women's Refuge and former psychiatric nurse.
